Started in 1975 as a newsletter for an apartment complex in Broadview Heights, it has grown to covering six communities over the past 49 years. While living in the apartments, Bill and Joyce McFadden started a publication to announce events and news within the tight-knit community.
Early production was basic. Typewritten articles on single sheets of paper with glued on graphics in the corners, and printed at a local copy shop. Soon the local mayor of Broadview Heights approached Bill and Joyce, to start a city paper. Soon, it was expanded to cover Brecksville followed by Independence, and in 2005, Seven Hills and Parma were added.
Now the GAZETTE covers 6 suburbs and is published twice a month.
